Things you should know about lucid dreams

Things you should know about lucid dreams

What are lucid dreams?

If you are a spiritually conscious person you must have observed yourself having a lucid dream. For those who are not into those deep stuff, let's use Wikipedia's layman description;
lucid dream is a type of dream where the dreamer becomes aware that they are dreaming. During a lucid dream, the dreamer may gain some amount of control over the dream characters, narrative, or environment; however, this is not actually necessary for a dream to be described as lucid. Lucid dreaming has been studied and reported for many years. Prominent figures from ancient to modern times have been fascinated by lucid dreams and have sought ways to better understand their causes and purpose. Many different theories have emerged as a result of scientific research on the subject and have even been shown in pop culture. Further developments in psychological research have pointed to ways in which this form of dreaming may be utilized as a form of sleep therapy. (Wikipedia)

History of lucid dreaming

Cultivating the dreamer's ability to be aware that they are dreaming is central to both the ancient Indian Hindu practice of Yoga nidra and the Tibetan Buddhist practice of dream Yoga. The cultivation of such awareness was a common practice among early Buddhists.

Early references to the phenomenon are also found in ancient Greek writing. For example, the philosopher Aristotle wrote: "often when one is asleep, there is something in consciousness which declares that what then presents itself is but a dream". Meanwhile, the physician Galen of Pergamon used lucid dreams as a form of therapy. In addition, a letter written by Saint Augustine of Hippo in 415 AD tells the story of a dreamer, Doctor Gennadius, and refers to lucid dreaming (Wikipedia)

Can we use lucid dreaming for scientific research?

Teams of cognitive scientists established real-time two-way communication with people undergoing a lucid dream. During dreaming they were able to consciously communicate with experimenters via eye movements or facial muscle signals, were able to comprehend complex questions and use working memory. Such interactive lucid dreaming could be a new approach for the scientific exploration of the dream state and could have applications for learning and creativity

Can lucid dream be induced?

Some people who are spiritually awakened can lucid-dream anytime they want and on whatever subject they please. To some people it is just something that happens by chance. What if you could master it and be able to lucid dream when you want to?

How to induce lucid dream

Here's a guide by Fernando Albert  , a Meditation facilitator and content contributor  on Quora on how to get started.

  • Intention. Set the purpose both before bed and during the day to lucid dream tonight.

  • Make reality checks. To make sure that you are awake. Even if you are sure, you are awake make sure to do reality checks because it will get to the point that you will gain dream quality out from this.

  • Keep a dream journal. I can’t stress on this one. Use it once you have it, by your night table. Write down everything that comes to you whether is night or morning.

  • Avoid technology before bed. Try to go to bed with a mindset of lucid dreaming, with a clear mind and avoid social media or something similar that could distract you from your focus.

  • Relax body and mind. Do these after several hours of sleep. Once you are laying down in bed visualize on the desired lucid dream. You do not have to imagine the whole dream, but a situation that is connected with the dream to teleport.

  • Avoid heavy foods, drugs, etc. You will know what works best for you in this aspect, but it is essential to be able to know oneself and works and does not work with you.

  • Practice. The word said it. After several weeks, you are going to be able to get better at lucid dreaming. Is a progressive skill, meaning that the more you practice, the better because it will bring growth.

I personally have had a world of experience in lucid dreaming,, at the level where I could make investigations, query people and get hidden facts, knowing what I needed and consciously getting the information. It goes way further than that. There's no limit to what one can achieve.

Here's my candid advice, whatever you do, do not use lucid dreaming for evil, it could destroy you.

I wish to thank @aragon , I have learned a lot from his contributions on this site.

Shalom
